    What's blooming?

Post by islandgrl on Tue Feb 08, 2011 7:58 pm

I have about three plants with blooms. One bouganvilla with one single bloom. One begonia with fading blooms, a geranium that is in bud and a cutting from a filler that I had in my urns last summer. Will start new plants to use again this summer as they were quite expensive. $4.49 for one small plant. I will post a picture of one of the pots (I have two plants). So what is the name of the plant below. LOL A friend gave it to me last year when it was only about 10" tall. It is now about 18" tall now. Very colourful.

I have no plants blooming right now.
My Amaryllis faded so I cut off the shriviled blooms.
I have three african violets but none blooming at present.

I don't know the name of your plant Islandgrl. The long leaves resemble a spider plant, but not the tall stock.

I have only one plant as the cats like greenery so I just keep this one where they cannot get at it.

It is a hibiscus which I only keep as my "good luck" plant as every time it is in a lot of bloom my house sells lol! It is a yellow bloom and I always paint the room to match.

Right now it just lost the one bloom it had but is setting forth a number of new buds sooooo.....who knows lol!

My Christmas cactus is about to bloom again. They are beautiful plants but the leaves are very fragile to touch. They will fall of easily.

Last weekend when I went to my sister's for our little get-together she had a pot of antheriums. There were 4 plants and she offered me one. I told her I would take it when the weather gets warmer when she decides to repot them. They were loaded with blooms. Had to get a picture.

    Thanks everyone

Glad, I have a Christmas cactus but it didn't do a thing this year. I guess it is in a location where it didn't get much light. It needs repotting also.

I am posting a couple of pictures of a Gerbera Daisy. I bought a couple pots of them end of season clearance, maybe it was September. They didn't do a thing while I had them, in fact they were drying up and had only a couple of green leaves. I took a chance and over-wintered them in the garage.

A couple of weeks ago I brought them indoors and trimmed off all the dead leaves. Now it has blooms and lots of shoots for more blooms. This one is a deep red, almost burgundy. The colour in the picture is deceiving.

Islandgrl, I love Gerbera Daisies and like
to have a couple in the garden in summer, but never thought of bringing one inside to try and keep over the winter.
Yours is so pretty and it's nice to have it bloom at this time of year.
