Black Friday, Are There Better Bargains?

Post by islandgrl on Wed Nov 24, 2010 3:01 pm

Black Friday is touted as one of the busiest shopping days of the year in the US but Canadians are also taking advantage of this day. Are there bargains to be had south of the border? Do you find that American retailers offer deeper discounts? Why are Canadian retailers so slow to give discounts?

I don't know about the discounts, but here in the US it is a day for people to be rude, crude, and just downright ugly to one another over saving a buck.

I don't do crowds anymore so stay away from there. After watching two grown people fight in the floor over a tv at Wal-Mart one Black Friday years ago, I gave up the sport.

    Right Windwalker!

I heard a tv ad where a well known department store was opening their doors on Friday at 3 am. (Khols)

Well, places like Walmart and Walgreen etc are open 24/7 anyway. Why go stand outside for them to open their door when you can shop at a place that is open 24/7? I think this black Friday thing has gotten out of hand.

There are some good bargoons but no way would I line up for hours to get anything. I got a pair of tri gold earing last year for 70% off, plus coupons for more shopping.

I find that the sales are on all week, might go out in the afternoon but I'm not battling the crowds.
