    Nature Note

Post by oceanna on Sun Aug 22, 2010 10:14 am

Ever wonder what's the difference between an alligator and a crocodile?

    Alligator
    2 species
    Wide rounded snout,
    upper teeth visible and
    most lower teeth hidden
    when mouth closed.

    Crocodile
    about 20 species
    long pointed snout,
    both upper and lower
    teeth visible when
    mouth closed.

    - From the Farmer's Almanac calendar on my desk.

(I have never been close to either an alligator or a crocodile an
I hope never to have that experience.) Very Happy

Very cool notes to know. Those Almanacs can be real fun to read all the facts in them. Thanks for the share.

Alligators - yuck I have another pic of a much larger one but can't find it. I really do have to organize my pictures better. :)-

Your attachment process isn't working as the max size is set to 0 have to wait until I can get them into photobucket I guess.

Flying fish live in warm ocean waters. They have two or four winglike fins, depending on the species, which help them to glide through the air for 10 to 30 seconds for 300 to 600 feet or more.
This allows them to escape swordfish and other underwater predators, although birds sometimes snap them up.
