    Rising prices

Post by oceanna on Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:26 pm

The price of gas here is $1.29 a litre and
an increase is expected on Thursday.

Grocery prices are rising rapidly and I try to be conscious of that when doing the shopping. We are encouraged to eat healthy food but fruits and vegetabes are costly.

It must be difficult for families to cope with the ever increasing food prices and to give children nutritious meals.

Food inflation has indeed arrived at the grocery stores and I am happy summer is near. Will grow a lot of what I need. Gas went to $1.29/l but is down to $1.18 now.

No veggie burgers for me. Have you tried them?

Food prices still continue to rise, at least in my area, so I try and stock up as much as possible whenever there's a really good sale. I'm wondering when or if prices will stabilize but I suspect it may be some time before that happens.

Grocery store prices in my area seem to be rising fast and furious so I decided to do a little more cross border shopping recently. While there, I found some items that I was interested in, priced considerably lower... i.e at least half of the price of a comparable product in Canada! astonished08

One item that surprised me in the last month was eggs. I usually buy the cheapest by the dozen. Now they are all $2.55/doz. and up. May raise my own next year. But would it be any cheaper? Would have to keep them fenced in because of foxes and cayotes.

Do you believe in those eggs that are sold as rich in omega? How do these eggs become so packed with omega? What is in the feed? Free range is better by far I think.

Island Girl - these might help answer your questions about the different types of eggs. Personally I prefer organic and if not possible, then free range.

Thank you dilannie. I think people have gone crazy about eco-friendly, organic, etc.

A chicken cannot be more organic than one that eats corn and roams around the farm all day eating what it likes. Are they trying to make people organic too? A whole lot of brain washing going on for the BIG $.

I will just continue eating what I know to be healthy and leave the "experts" to push their books and ideas.

    Shrinking products?

I suspect that smaller packaging will become more prevalent as food prices continue to rise. Watch this from --
